An estimate is not a deadline
An app predicts from past cycles, but ovulation can occur later than expected. A “late” label means the date is outside the predicted window; it does not explain why.
Consider pregnancy when relevant
Home pregnancy tests detect hCG and are generally more informative after a missed period, though product directions differ. A negative result taken too early may need repeating. Contact a clinician about uncertain or conflicting results.
Other causes are common
Stress, illness, weight changes, intense exercise, breastfeeding, hormonal contraception, PCOS, thyroid conditions, and perimenopause can affect menstruation. Seek care for persistent absence, concerning symptoms, or possible pregnancy with pain or bleeding.
